How to Record and Email Your Audition Video
All contestants can easily record and submit their auditions using a cellphone, tablet, or computer. Because video files are too large to attach directly to an email, you must upload your video to YouTube or a cloud service like Google Drive or iCloud, and email us the link.
Please follow these instructions from start to finish to ensure your entry is accepted.
Video submissions cannot exceed ten minutes in length
- Step 1: Record Your Performance
- Use your phone: Set your cellphone or tablet sideways (landscape mode) on a stable surface.
- One continuous take: Your video must be a single, unedited performance. Do not cut or splice the footage.
- Stay anonymous: Do not state your name, school, or location anywhere in the video recording. Keep the background neutral.
- Step 2: Upload Your Video (Choose Option A or B)
To bypass email file size limits, use one of the two free methods below to host your video.
Option A: Upload to YouTube (Recommended)
- Open the YouTube app on your phone or go to YouTube.com.
- Tap the + (Create) icon and select Upload a video.
- Choose your audition video from your phone's camera roll.
- Title: Title it with your category and piece name only (e.g., "Drama Monologue - Shakespeare"). Do not put your name in the video title.
- Visibility Settings (Crucial): On the final screen, you MUST select UNLISTED.
- Do NOT choose Private (our judges will be blocked and cannot view it).
- Do NOT choose Public (the general public will see it).
- Tap Save and copy the video link.
Option B: Upload to Google Drive, iCloud, or OneDrive
- Open your preferred cloud app (Google Drive, iCloud, or OneDrive) on your phone.
- Upload your audition video directly from your camera roll.
- Once uploaded, tap the three dots ... next to the file and select Share or Manage Access.
- Change the link settings from "Restricted" to "Anyone with the link can view". (If left on Restricted, the judges cannot open it).
- Copy the shareable link.
- Step 3: Email the Link to Us
